Faswall® the perfect compliment to basalt

Faswall insulated wood chip-cement forms

Every couple of years I come upon a building product that is really eye catching, very interesting, and sensible. Faswall® is a green building system using “insulated wood chip-cement forms” that are exceptionally healthy and durable, offering excellent thermal properties.

Faswall insulated wood chip-cement formsFaswall is a perfect complement to our basalt rebars, mesh and reinforcements and our cork stuccos and plasters. Talk about a marriage made in heaven! Think about it, more insulation, more strength, and the very greenest, natural products available at affordable prices.

The breathable, insulating, moisture controlling properties of the cork based stuccos and plasters and the strength and non-corrosion of the basalt, would make the Faswall block form the very best option I have ever seen.

The basalt volcanic rock rebar and reinforcements are 70 percent lighter than steel, in concrete 2-3 times stronger, and the emissions from making these reinforcements are 40 times lower than steel.

I can’t stress enough how perfect these materials are and how sensible it will be to use them together. Anyone thinking of building a green home would very smart to build using this new system.

Fire retardant, bug retardant, moisture controlling, breathable and long lasting durable products, that are affordable. Plus the benefit of longevity. Not having rusting, rotting, peeling, corrosion, or issues with mold, means peace of mind and huge savings for the life of the building along with the safety and security these products offer.

I am excited and hope you all are too.

Hi, we are building our home with Faswall and are thinking about using basalt rebar. First, does it bent like is needed to build a Faswall home? Also, how do we get pricing and quantity information?

Hi Paige, It bends in a radius not 90 degrees. You can use some stainless where you need those bends or galvanized and use basalt for all the straight rods.
We also put mesh in corners or our twine to make them super strong. Add basalt chopped fibers to any cement mix. Call me 401-481-8422 thanks, Nick

Working with concrete and steel for over 25 years has given me an innate understanding of the properties and use of these materials. From rebuilding old homes in New England to hospitals in Alaska, union work on the pipeline, and commercial jobs from Hawaii to Arizona and Florida, I have seen a great deal!

My motivation when seeing people lose their homes to fires, tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, etc. is the knowledge that by building correctly many of these homes, and lives can be spared. New standards are in place such as installing better windows or hurricane ties. However to me these are just band-aids on the greater problem of building correctly in the first place. Homes can be built today with designs and new reinforcements that can withstand the elements.
